چکیده

As Gas Insulated DC transmission systems unite the advantages of space saving installation and large transmission capacity this technology is increasingly discussed and investigated today. The main problem in operation with respect to insulation seems to be identified today, which is charge accumulation on the surface of the spacer. These trapped charges can cause a reduction of dielectric strength and can lead to breakdown, especially at polarity reversals and overvoltages. The experiments presented in this paper deal with the influence of the volume of the gas phase on the charge accumulation. Ion from the gas phase drift in the DC field along the flux lines. If these lines end on the insulator surface, charges accumulate and distort the background electric field distribution. The amount of charges accumulated on the insulator surface increase with field strength only for very small applied voltages as a saturated drift is quickly reached. The main influencing parameter is thus the volume of the gas phase that is connected to the surface via the flux lines. To investigate and quantify this effect in detail the volume of the active gas phase, i.e. which is connected to the surface by flux lines, was varied for the presented experiments and the surface charge accumulation on the spacer was measured.

Role of Ion Sources for Spacer Charging in SF6 Gas Insulated HVDC Systems

Stationary DC electric fields are determined by the resistivity distribution of the insulation materials. In the presence of interfaces between different insulation materials, charge accumulation at these boundary layers may have a significant influence on the electric field distribution and with it on the breakdown strength of the arrangement. In many previous works, surface charging of model ...

Optimal DC Fast Charging Placing And Sizing In Iran Capital (Tehran)

DC fast charging (DCFC) and optimal placing of them is a fundamental factor for the popularization of electric vehicles (EVs). This paper proposes an approach to optimize place and size of charging stations based on genetic algorithm (GA). Target of this method is minimizing cost of conversion of gas stations to charging stations. Another considered issue is minimizing EVs losses to find neares...

Decomposition Characteristics of SF6 and Partial Discharge Recognition under Negative DC Conditions

Four typical types of artificial defects are designed in conducting the decomposition experiments of SF6 gas to obtain and understand the decomposition characteristics of SF6 gas-insulated medium under different types of negative DC partial discharge (DC-PD), and use the obtained decomposition characteristics of SF6 in diagnosing the type and severity of insulation fault in DC SF6 gas-insulated...

Investigating Characteristics of N2, CO2 and CF3I in Contrast to High Current Arcs in Circuit Breakers to Choose a Suitable Substitute for SF6

Specific and sensitive operation of circuit breakers makes an individual position for them in power networks. Circuit breakers are at the central gravity of variations and execution operations. Therefore, an optimum operation is the main reason to investigate about new gases to be used in MV and HV circuit breakers instead of SF6. The arc process has enormous complexity because of hydrodynamic ...
